In a short time, The Beard Guys have gained quite a following! ...It began as simply two brothers wanting to build their relationship and do something creative together.
We grew up watching and looking up to the likes of Sylvester Stallone(many a mattress doubled as a punching bag!)John Wayne, Kurt Russell, and Chuck Norris! We even attempted to make our own films with 15 lbs cameras that had to be lugged around and plugged in often! As children, we shared this bond.
As young men, life took us in separate directions. Nick began writing music. This lead to him filming, directing, and editing music videos for many different artists. I went into social services. For the past five years I have been mentoring youth in one form or another. We drifted apart and never made time for each other. The years quickly passed by. I'm sure many of you can relate.
Just a few short months ago, a wonderful thing happened. On a wim, we began watching all the old movies together again! Every Saturday morning we would get up early, have a few cups of coffee, and pop a VHS into the VCR! Chuck and Sly were back at it all over again!
The weeks passed by and we began talking more and more. We found ourselves looking forward to spending time together and quickly the awkwardness that passing time brings was gone. We were having so much fun! A few movies in, we almost simultaneously said to each other " We can do this! We can make our own film!" We almost immeadiatly began writing a script in the vain of all our old favorites. The pages and Saturdays flew by and before we knew it the script was finished!
With a completed script, we figured we better try our hands at filming together. Our first short film was only a few minutes long. It centered around the big beard I had been growing and the power it gave me :) The quality was good and the comedic value was there so we setup a YouTube Chanel and uploaded our first endeavor! Surprisingly, it did very well. The feedback was great!
So began the Saga of the Beard Guys! With each short film we developed the characters and people really responded! Five films in, we are finding ourselves becoming more involved in our community and getting them involved with our films! It's been great! We are so grateful for all the support!
All that being said, we've found that the larger our productions get the more we are in need. To be super specific, we are hoping to raise money so that we can upgrade our filming equipment and editing software. This would allow us to give you a better finished product and in a more timely fashion.
Our long term goal is to produce a feature length action comedy film. As mentioned early, We have written a script and are hoping to begin filming in the fall of 2016!
