The Cole Project
Donation protected
In May 2014, I was preparing for a city council meeting. Cole Phillips, 9 at the time, walked in and asked me if he could put donation jars around town at local businesses in order to raise money for playground equipment for our city park. I had him talk to city council and later to the park committee and all approved his request. ( Hes a brave kid for being able to speak up and do public speaking at such a young age) He raised $2000 with the donation jars. Every three years Newcastle hosts a class reunion so we teamed up with the reunion committee and reached out to all alumni about making "The Cole Project" their class project as well. To date , the alumni have raised an additional $7000. We are beginning the process to make our city park handicap accessible in preparation to getting playground equipment. All of the requirements for a safe playground is very expensive. We are hoping that we are able to meet this goal and praying that playground equipment will bring more families out to the park and spend quality time together. Any donation is greatly appreciated. This fundraiser will run until our reunion which is August 6,2016. Thanks in advance from the Newcastle community in helping make the dream of a child come true.
