The New Artist Workshop

We show the world little bits of ourselves in our work - what we think, what we feel, and what we want to be. Even as a kid, I wanted to be a creator. It didn’t matter the scope or the medium, the subject or its success. I just knew that I had this creativity burning me up inside that I had to let out. This creative journey has been slow and steady, but every few years, a major turning point changes everything - writing and directing my first play in high school, getting into NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, creating my thesis film. I always seek to challenge myself, and each of these opportunities pushed me into unknown territory.
I am at another turning point, and it’s the biggest one yet.
The pandemic forced all of us to stop and take a look around. What I saw was rather disappointing; I had no job, no prospects. I had spent most of my time post-graduation desperately looking for odd jobs in the film industry, working 60 hours a week in various part-time jobs just to make ends meet. There was no time to create anything. But with my life put on pause, I had nothing but time and the chance to ask myself: what did I really want out of my life?
So, in May 2021, I founded The New Artist Workshop, an independent development and production company built for the changing landscapes of the arts and entertainment industries.
I know that you’re probably wondering what The New Artist Workshop is. Perhaps that’s not the best question. After all, right now, it’s just me at my desk in my apartment. Maybe it’s better to ask what The New Artist Workshop could be.
Conveniently, our name actually reflects our three core objectives:
At its most fundamental level, The New Artist Workshop provides a structural and legal framework for the work that I was already doing as an individual, which can be divided into what I call the 3C’s:
In the past year alone, using this framework, The New Artist Workshop has produced several projects,
And taken on various services, not to mention the projects currently in production or active development,
Or the other short films, features, documentaries, plays, short stories, and podcasts still in the early stages of formation.
Even with the company’s currently limited scope, I have been given these chances to produce a whole host of different projects. I’m finally able to do what I love, and The New Artist Workshop is well on its way to keep growing.
But I can’t do it alone. I need your help.
Up to this point, formation expenses, distribution costs, contractor fees - this has all been self-funded by yours truly, which puts a major cap on my ambitions for what The New Artist Workshop can be. That’s why I’m asking for your support to help make these ambitions a reality.
The last time that I raised money, it was for my thesis film, an intensely personal project that represented all of my artistic efforts. But in many ways, this company is even more personal to me - it’s a chance for me to create and help others create incredible projects and stories, making The New Artist Workshop the true culmination of my entire creative journey.
Your contribution will support this company’s evolution and maturation, but most specifically, it will support:
This is such a cliché, but EVERY PENNY COUNTS. Truly - no contribution is too small. If you’d like to make a donation, you have several options:
But this isn’t charity - it is, after all, a business. So, for your generous support, we are offering special promotions and merchandise depending on the size of your contribution:
Oh, and did I mention? EVERY PENNY COUNTS. If it’s $10, $5, or hell, even $1, that’s $1 closer to our goal. But even just sharing our story on social media can make a huge difference.
I have been unbelievably fortunate in my life - with every milestone, every achievement, every step closer to my goals, I’m reminded of all of the family, friends, loved ones, and collaborators that got me to where I am now. None of this would even be possible without you. I believe that together, we can make something incredible. Can I count on you?
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to me. And make sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram @TheNewArtistWorkshop.
God bless!
