Refugee Kitchen: Help El Comedor Make Rent
Donation protected
The Contra Viento Y Marea Comedor is a migrant/refugee run and oriented kitchen and mutual aid center that serves hot meals for those whose journey to escape hardship and violence has lead them to Tijuana. More recently they've began providing personal sanitation and protective equipment to those in need who face exposure to the novel corona virus.
This fundraiser has been made to help make rent for the space so the unpaid volunteers running it can focus their efforts on securing vital resources and expanding its capacity.
Though previous fundraising has ensured their survival for almost two years now, attention to the border crisis has waned and reserves are running low. $8400 is enough to cover a year of rent for the space for a year and our fundraising goal has been adjusted to meet that. Making rent wouldn't have been possible without people giving what they can and encouraging others to comes together and do the same. Please share this fundraiser with your friends and family and consider coming up with creative COVID conscious ways to support this project. We're all in this together.
You can find more about Contra Viento y Marea and their kitchen in this fundraisers previous updates and on their website here. For more frequent updates and pictures there is a Facebook which can be found here.

Enzo D'Angelo is listed as the beneficiary because they are bottom lining financial logistics making sure the kitchen has access to funds with as little mediation as possible.
