Eli's Battle With Aplastic Anemia

My sister Nicola and her partner Robbie have four beautiful children. In June this year their 12 year old son Eli was diagnosed with severe Aplastic Anemia. Aplastic Anemia affects around 2 people in every million and is a rare blood disorder where the bone marrow does not create enough blood cells for the body.
The result is that Eli is exhausted, his body cannot fight infections due to his low immunity. He has to have platelet and blood transfusions every ten days.
Next week Eli will start treatment at The Lady Cilento Children's Hospital. He will be admitted to isolation for six weeks to commence Atgam, chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. Thankfully his 4 year old brother Albie is a bone marrow match, although this also means that Albie will become a patient, and for the next year will require close monitoring due to his young age.
Eli is leading a very restricted life and has had to give up school, soccer, playing on the trampoline, and so many other things that he loves. He has required full time care at home and constant hospital appointments. Nicola and Robbie will be unable to work once Eli's treatment begins as one of them will be required at the hospital and one at home to care for the other children. They are living in a rental property and struggling financially with so many unexpected costs associated with this treatment.
It is heartbreaking to see what this brave little boy and his family are going through. They have a long road ahead and it would be great if they could focus on Eli's treatment and not have to worry about the mounting bills at home.
