TNR for Harrison Cats

Donation protected
I've been fostering kittens for my local shelter for about a year, and recently TNR'd my first community cat.  His name is Charlie, and he needed to have his necrotic, degloved tail removed when he was neutered.  It really hit me then:  If I don't help him, who will?  He's doing very well and it makes me happy every day to see him outside enjoying his feral community cat life.

I want to help more cats like Charlie.  When I was headed to Cat Camp to learn more about TNR and animal welfare in general, I stumbled upon a feral cat colony that has not had much TNR work done.  While one of the colony's caretakers does trap, it's too large of a job for one person, so I want to step in and help.

The cats in Harrison look happy and healthy.  They have feeders who visit them every day, and even have feral shelters made for them.  This is fantastic, but I still want to make sure they've been vaccinated and spayed/neutered.  If we don't keep the population under control, well, all sorts of bad things can happen.  Let's keep the Harrison cats happy and healthy!

Many towns in my area have adopted TNR as part of their municipal animal control programs, which makes it much easier for us since cats can be neutered at no cost to the people who trap and release.  However, Harrison has not yet adopted such a program.  I am not going to wait for it to happen; I want to help the cats now!

Each cat will cost $55 for spay/neuter/vaccination.  I could easily neuter one or two cats a week with the extra money I earn tutoring, but we need to make a bigger impact, so we need to fundraise for this endeavor.

I know it can be sketchy to donate money to something like this, and not know where the money goes.  I'll post receipts from the spay/neuter clinic and anywhere else the Harrison Cats money goes.

If you are interested in helping but don't want to give money, I started an amazon Wish List:  http://a.co/9PpyCfZ

You can also contact me any time to talk more about this project.  If you are local and want to get involved in a non-monetary way, please reach out!

Thank you for helping me help the furry feral friends that I adore <3

***** UPDATE *****

Harrison will be contracted with our local animal shelter for TNR as of May 15.  This means that I don't have to single-handedly raise funds for spay/neuter surgeries!  I'll be putting this money toward the supplies that we need, and possibly toward fostering and medical care of friendly ferals and kittens.  We have months of work ahead of us, and even without having to pay for the surgergies, I can't do it alone.  If, somehow, there is extra money, it will be donated directly to the TNR program.
