Tom Bielenberg's Recovery Fund

On March 3, Tom fell on a patch of black ice resulting in a severe hip fracture, two broken ribs, and two dislocated bones in his back.
Because the of the complexity of this break, the doctors decided not perform surgery as doing so would be very invasive and could lead to other complications. Instead, they recommended an intensive rehabilitation plan and are optimistic the fracture will heal on its own within a few months.
While this is good news, the road to recovery will be long and painful. Tom will be relocated to a rehab facility soon, where he will stay for a minimum of eight weeks. While there, he will be undergoing physical and occupational therapy. He will be unable to drive for at least three months.
Due to the accident, Tom will be closing Micawber's Bookstore permanently. While Tom has insurance coverage, he will hit his out of pocket maximum this year and he has a variety of health conditions that require regular prescription medicines.
His family has started this GoFundMe page to help cover the medical bills and associated healthcare costs for the rest of the year. Since he will not be working, we are hoping this campaign can help him focus on his recovery in the months ahead, while alleviating health care-related financial stress.
$3,000 = Out of pocket maximum for 2019
$2,400 = 10 months of insurance premium payments
$2,000 = 10 months of prescription drug costs
$1,000 = Possible cost of affording mobility assistance, such as a wheelchair
