Tom L. Malone III Medical Fund
Donation protected
Tom Malone is a hardworking man whose favorite things in life are his wife Kim, daughter Hannah, dog Jack, family and the Louisville Cardinals.
Last week Tom was the victim of a horrific hit and run accident. The vehicle that hit him drug him underneath for over a block. The injuries that he sustained were life threatening and life altering. He is currently in ICU on ventilator and heavily sedated because the pain would be more than he could bare.
His knee was so badly dislocated it tore all the main ligaments, nerve damage, broken bones and severed an artery. They had to take an artery from his other leg to save his life and his leg. He received no blood flow to the lower portion of that leg for 3 hours which has caused other complications. Getting mobility back in that leg will be a long process and we pray that he does.
His back was so damaged by road burn from him being drug under vehicle that is was solid black. They had to remove skin from a large portion of his back all the way to the muscle. The team of doctors working on him said they have never seen road burn damage this bad. They have temporarily put cadaver skin on his back to help start the healing until they can start skin grafting his own skin.
His other injuries include gash in back of head, skull fracture, hip fracture, 8 severely broken ribs, and collapsed lung. He has been fighting fevers off and on, has been through 3 surgeries with a 4th scheduled for Wednesday. With many more to come.
He has a very long painful road ahead of him. When he is released from hospital at some point he will head straight to a rehab center. Even with insurance his medical bills will be astronomical.
On top of this he will not be able to work for a very long time which is also financially devastating. We wanted to set up this fund hoping we can raise money to help Tom and his family. Even if you can’t help please share with others.
No one is prepared to be an innocent victim of a violent crime. Please pray for Tom and his family. Any help would be so greatly appreciated.
