Totnes Rural Rainbow Crossing

Donation protected
Building on the success of the temporary rainbow crossing Proud2Be installed in 2014, the non-profit organisation has launched a campaign to gain approval to install a Europe's first permanent rainbow crossing in the market town of Totnes in Devon, UK.

The crossing will celebrate diversity, increase visibility and raise awareness about the issues still faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual &/or trans+ (LGBT+) community, in Devon and beyond. The proposed location of the crossing is on either side of The Wills Memorial on The Plains.

Our sponsors QMS Ltd have agreed to provide the materials and install the crossing free of charge and Hamid van Koten from ‎VK Design Consultants has produced the design.

Proud2Be submitted a proposal to the South Hams Highways and Traffic Order Committee in April 2017, who have given their support in principle to the concept. The committee asked us to provide a safety audit at the next meeting for their consideration.

We need your support! Funds raised will be used to pay for the safety audit, which will help ensure the crossing meets all the necessary safety requirements.

Unfortunately, a safety audit does not necessarily guarantee that the Council will grant approval for Proud2Be to install the crossing. But without it- there is no chance that they will.

What is guaranteed is the continuation of the dialogue that this campaign has created.

Thanks so much for your donation,

Warmest wishes,

The Proud2Be Team :)
