Trash to Treasured

Donation protected
I was scrolling through my newsfeed on Facebook, and stumbled across a video about foster care children and their needs. Watching the story of the founder, Rob Scheer, of Comfort Cases moved me in a way I cannot begin to describe. I knew I had to do something for our city, for our county...

“All four of them arrived at our home with trash bags. I was absolutely shocked that after all of these years since I had been in the system carrying a trash bag, these kids were carrying a trash bag. What are we not doing to change this?” –Rob Scheer (former foster child and founder of Comfort Cases).

The average child in foster care will move seven times by their 18th birthday. These children are moved from place to place and home to home with very few belongings, and what they do have is typically carried in a trash bag.

What can I do? How can I get involved? We have almost a thousand children in the Shelby County Foster Care system as of December 2016. The majority of these children are in the system due to abandonment, neglect and abuse. A trash bag should never be a child’s suitcase! Our children are so much more valuable than that.

I want to put together 100 bags for those in our local foster care system. Bags will be made for both teenagers and children. In addition to financial donations, you can help by donating any of the items listed below (new please):
