Trauma Training To Help Survivors
Donation protected
What if someone told you that tomorrow you would be the victim of a sexual assault? Instantly, your life is changed. You are consumed with feelings of disorientation, shock, and numbness. Suddenly, you have a permanent sense of vulnerability and are living in a state of constant fear. You become angry and blame the person who did this to you, while at the same time you hate yourself for "allowing" this to happen. You find yourself having no trust in others. You can't think.... you can't sleep.... you can't eat.... your mind has become consumed by this attack. You want to crawl out of your skin, but there's nowhere to go! What's worse? You're putting on a brave face to those around you, hiding what you've endured while falling apart inside. Can you imagine the impact this would have on your life?
With the #metoo campaign shining a spotlight on sexual assault and harassment, Cognitive Behavior Institute immediately asked, “How can we help?” After all, one of our founding principles and guiding lights is identifying unmet resources in the community. The #metoo campaign has created a platform for people to share what many already knew: the prevalence of sexual assault and harassment is alarmingly high.
Survivors of traumatic events deserve access to highly trained clinicians and currently there is a shortage of clinicians who are EMDR-IA certified. Here’s where you can help us! With your donations our goal is to certify over 100 clinicians, both within and outside of CBI, in the leading methods of trauma treatment including prolonged exposure and EMDR . This increase in the number of certified clinicians will give survivors greater access to the high-quality treatment they deserve!! The costs for this type of specialized training can range up to $11,000 per clinician. In addition to this training, funds raised will go towards Public Service Announcements to connect survivors, their families and friends to education and support about dealing with trauma, and to newly certified trauma clinicians available in their community.
We understand that trauma is more than what has happened to a person, and it certainly isn’t who they are. We hope that through this campaign we can bring increased access to those who need it most! Please donate… because #survivorsdeservebetter.
