Help Tricia Tackle Lupus
Donation protected
On January 20th 2017 our cousin Patricia Bocanegra was diagnosed with Lupus (a rare and incurable autoimmune disease in which the immune system becomes hyperactive and attacks its own normal/ healthy tissue). Lupus is categorized in 5 stages, after undergoing a kidney biopsy she learned that she has stage 4, Lupus Nephritis.
Since her diagnosis Patricia has spent majority of her time in the hospital. On February 14th she was admitted into St. Joseph’s Hospital in Orange, CA. From her admission on February 14th Patricia endured a lot of pain from internal inflammation and discomfort caused by a series of tests that led to the removal of her gallbladder. Finally, On Feb. 28th after two long weeks away from home she was finally discharged from the hospital. Unfortunately, less than 24 hours later Patricia’s boyfriend found her unconscious at their home. As a result, Patricia was sent to the ER and re-admitted into St. Joseph’s hospital, where she received emergency exploratory surgery. Through that procedure, Patricia’s doctors discovered a hole in her colon. She is currently recovering in the ICU and will continue her stay at St. Joseph’s for another week.
Once Patricia is released from the hospital, clear of all infections and deemed “healthy;” she will then begin a 6 month journey though chemotherapy receiving bi weekly treatments (which eventually will change to once a month) in order to control her Lupus.
As we all know, medical bills are expensive and quickly add up. Seeing such an outgoing and loving person like our cousin Patricia be thrown an unexpected curve ball like this at such a young age is devastating to say the least. In order to ease the stress off of Patricia and her family as she recovers, we as her cousins decided to start this campaign to ask for your support in order to help her get through this difficult and unexpected time.
Ideally, we aim to accomplish our fundraising goal by June of 2017. With your support, we will be able to help provide care costs, financial assistance throughout her treatment, and for the medical bills that Patricia will soon receive. Any and every donation helps, and is truly appreciated during this unforeseen period in her life. Additionally, we would like to thank each and every supporter that has allowed Patricia’s story to be heard. Please visit our updates for the latest on Patricia's condition. thank you.
