Trident the Cat Recovery Fund

"In what state of mind do you have to be in to abandon a poor, defenseless 3 legged animal? Trident was found at the trailhead entrance for the Calico Tanks trail. We do not know how long he was there but when he was found he was too weak to walk or even crawl. If you think that sounds bad, it gets worse. The family that initially found him just a few moments before we arrived had zero intentions of helping him. They had picked him up and their intention was to leave him there as he was found. They noticed us staring at them and only then they decided to ask if the cat was ours. We said "no" and asked if they were going to take him home or to an animal rescue shelter. They said "no" and asked us if we wanted him because they couldn't do anything for him. We decided to take him in and try to save his life. Even though our current living situation does not accommodate pets, we would not turn our back and let him die. We didn't think he would make it through the night and this is him after 12 hours of constant care. "
