We are a group of citizens rallying around our Rockford Park District! As you have likely heard, the Rockford Park District faced another $1 million deficit this year and had to make some tough operational decisions. Our beloved Park District has not increased taxes in several years even though revenue has declined, and as a result is faced with the decision to reduce certain services and attractions. We need your help to keep the Trolley Car 36 operational!
At this point, Trolley Car 36 is not going to operate in 2018 unless we can raise enough funds. Our fundraising goal is $16,000 to cover operational costs for the summer only. This would continue to give our community the chance to take a trip up and down the tracks, relive life along the riverfront, and enjoy this summer tradition in 2018.
An account has been set up in the Rockford Park District Foundation for this community fundraising effort. Please join us in helping to keep the trolley on the tracks!
About Trolley Car 36:
Trolley Car 36 has been part of our riverfront since 1985 offering public rides to citizens and guests of all ages. The 28-foot trolley was the first in the city since 1936 when trolley service stopped and bus service began – hence the name Trolley Car 36.
