Troupe #5330: Lincoln NE or Bust

Hardin, Montana is a small town in south central Montana. The number of students in the high school has always hovered around 400. Although it has definitely
been hard work, maintaining the drama program has always been a labor of love. Our association with the International Thespian Society began in 1996, with 1995 being the first year students, under the leadership of Janie Morissette, attended the Montana Thespian Festival. In 1996 Hardin was officially chartered as Troop #5330. This small troop attempted to bring plays that ran between 10 minutes to 45 minutes to every festival. Even when they were unable to perform, they did what they could do help in any way they could. After a long illustrious career with the troop, Janie decided she wanted to spend more time with her grand children. In 2011 she began the process of handing the reins over to her long time technical director and occasional director's assistant, Darren Means. Within a few short years the transition was complete, and in 2013 Mr. Means became the troop leader. Continuing the tradition, Mr Means pushed his troop to become better. Finally in 2017, believing that they were ready to take the next step, he entered the troupe for consideration for the International Thespian Festival. He was confident in his troupe's abilities, but he also understood all the well laid plans of mice and men... On February 3, 2017, the performance ended for the first time in Mr. Means career, and for the first time in a very long time for this troupe, in a standing ovation. Such a feat may not be so unusual for schools with bigger budgets and a larger pool of resources, but it was a tremendous feat for a small school who had not experienced such a thing in a very long time. When the time came at the end of the festival for awards, little Hardin Troop #5330 came away with two things never expected by anyone: A certificate of recognition in creative excellence, and the right and honor to represent the state of Montana at the International Thespian Festival in Lincoln, Nebraska.
They are now in need of assistance to raise a portion of the money to attend. Any help would be appreciated.
