Tick Truck for Lexi

Hello all!
My name is Lexi. There are so many wonderful stories on here and I wanted to thank you for reading mine.
So here it goes...

I moved to Norfolk in 2013 to pursue my PhD in Ecology studying ticks. Yes, ticks as in the creepy critters that spread disease and feed on blood. Anyways! My dissertation is on potential control options of ticks and I need to travel to several field sites to conduct my research. This past month my old truck has died and I am at a loss for finding new transportation.

Despite my wonderful support system of adopted family, friends and distant family back home in Maine, I am unable to acquire wheels on my own. I have tried and applied for every option I can think of. But moving straight from my undergraduate (Unity College) to a doctoral program (Old Dominion University) has left me at a loss for credit and loan opportunities. 
The money will be used directly for getting me a new, used vehicle so I can head back out to field sites, collect ticks, and complete my dissertation. The funds are needed sooner rather than later, but anything, anytime would be appreciated beyond belief.

GoFundMe is my attempt to see if someone (hopefully you) will understand the life of a first generation college student who has given this journey her all, overcome obstacles, and hopes to achieve her dream of becoming a wildlife epidemiologist.
