Help Ben Fight
Donation protected
Over the weekend (12/1) Ben was shot during a robbery attempt in Memphis. He managed to drive to a nearby service station for help but lost a lot of blood in the process. He is currently at the trauma center. The bullet is lodged in his liver. We are still trying to piece together all the details but police are looking for two suspects in a dark suburban.
For those who don’t know Ben: he led his team the Bartlett Panthers to the Tennessee state basketball championship. He is super smart, wicked funny and unfailingly kind. He graduated from Union University where he played basketball. In the comedy/improv world he is know as Benny Elbows. Please cover Ben, his parents and bother (along with the rest of his family) during this crucial aftermath of this senseless act of violence. He would never ask for himself but his medical bills are growing each day. If you wish to donate it will be greatly appreciated.
Update: 1/31/19 So often the phrase "was shot" is followed by another horrible phrase Our family is grateful to be able to share the "and survived" version of this story.
Benny has fought hard and is on the path to a remarkable recovery. He has been able to return to work and resume many of his regular activities. While he may have gained a bullet, (too soon??) he hasn't lost his sense of humor.
Gofundme has asked me to share some additional information:
1. Me: Shari Neely. I live In Tupelo, MS
2. Benny Frederick is real! He is my first cousin. The shooting he endured was covered by local TV and newspaper media.
3. All funds are routed directly to his Mother via bank transfer. (He was not able to handle bill paying and banking from the trauma unit.)
4. Money raised is applied toward the large out of pocket medical expenses that resulted from hospitalization.
THANK YOU again for your generous warm wishes, prayers and contributions. Wishing you love and laughter!
