The Phillips family lost everything in some of the worst flooding Texas has ever seen. The Phillips did not have flood insurance, as they do not live in a flood plain.
These floodwaters are historic, destructive, and deadly and there is more rain on the way.
When the water breached the walls of their home, the Phillips family tried in vain to save some of their belongings by placing them up high.
Those belongings are now destroyed by rising waters, sewage, ants, snakes, and everything else that has swept through their home.
Teana Phillips and her daughter are equestrians, and members of the eventing community. They were able to save their horses from the rising flood waters, but now face selling them just to survive.
The sale of their horses will not begin to touch the catostrophic loss the Phillips family has experienced. But it will add to their heartache, should it come to that.
