Jeanette's Fight Against Cancer

For many Octobers, we as a nation participate in Breast Cancer Awareness Month by wearing pink ribbons, walking for the Susan G Komen foundation, or simply by making a donation in the hopes of finding a cure for this disease. Many of us want to find the cure for the sake of the generations of women to come so they don't have to endure the heartache and pain that comes with this disease. It's safe to say that many women, like ourselves, are not aware of just how much pain and suffering not only does the person who has the disease goes through, but the many loved one that surround the person as well. Unfortunately Theresa, myself, and Jeanette will gain first hand experience starting right now.

This October, Jeanette has been diagnosed with Stage Two Triple Negative Breast Cancer. It is a very aggressive form of cancer that spreads rapidly. The mass has gotten big enough that it has already spread in to her lymph nodes. Cancers that are HER-2 Negative and ER Negative and PR Negative can be more aggressive and difficult to treat. The size of the invasive component of the tumor and the number of lymph nods of cancer will greatly influence her prognoses. In layman's terms, it is a cancer that is more difficult to treat with a possibility of remission.

With the disease being so rapid, Jeanette is going to start receiving Chemo Therapy every other Friday for the next four months along with radiation and various surgeries. Her mission is to not let this stop her from living her everyday life and to continue working as a single mother so she can provide for her two boys, aged at 11 and 14. Many of us know these are crucial years in an adolescent's life so she plans on trying to balance her therapy, her job, and be there for her kids as much as possible for the sake of not knowing what he future holds for her. Her family is her everything and we want to try to make this difficult time for them go as smoothly as it possible can.
 
Christina and myself are asking anyone that knows Jeanette, or has gone through this kind of experience to help out anyway that you possible can. As close friends to Jeanette, we want to help her and her family focus more on being positive about making her well again without constantly worrying about the financial hardship that unfortunately comes along on this journey.
