Tyrion Needs A Miracle!

Tyrion was born on June 19th 2016 in an overcrowded southern shelter and his entire family was immediately at risk of euthanasia. The kind folks at Furever Yours Rescue, myself included, pulled the whole family and had them brought to PA. When they arrived Tyrion and his siblings were just two days old. Tyrion was the runt of the litter and "failed to thrive" according to the veterinarians overseeing the family's care. The volunteers of FYR tube fed him in addition to separating mommy and him several times a day so that he could have a chance to nurse without competition. They tended to him around the clock and that was just the start of his special needs. While their efforts saved his life, he has struggled health-wise since the beginning. He has constantly battled upper respiratory infections and has been on and off antibiotics his entire life. Each time the medications seemed to work but as soon as the regimen was complete his symptoms returned. He wants so badly to be a happy playful puppy but has struggled due to this inexplicable condition. While all of his siblings found their happily ever after one by one, the rescue felt he was not stable enough to adopt out and so they dedicated themselves to his care and worked closely with the vet team trying everything they could, attempting to free him of his constant cough and runny nose. After 4 months of working with him, and getting to a place where all felt he was stable and on the mend, they finally made him available for adoption. A wonderful adopter was found who pledged to love him despite his issues. The vets really believed that as he grew and developed, these upper respiratory conditions would resolve themselves. That there would not be lifelong struggles. So after all his rough beginnings, a lengthy trial, and a vet consultation, at about 5 months old, Tyrion was finally adopted at the end of November. It seemed that his luck was finally changing. He was in a happy home, active, playful and loved.
On December 30th Tyrion began struggling to breathe. His devoted and loving family rushed him to the ER, where he was evaluated, had x-rays, and was diagnosed with pneumonia. A round of antibiotics was prescribed and once again everyone thought Tyrion would soon be on the mend and feeling better. But he wasn't. His next round of x-rays showed no improvement. Another cocktail of antibiotics was suggested and tried, again the next x-rays showed no improvement. More antibiotics. No improvement. More antibiotics. No change. Now he is 8 months old and we have exhausted all treatment options except some extremely invasive and expensive diagnostic testing. This family has spent over $1400 since the December visit and counting. The family has essentially drained their emergency pet fund. This latest diagnostic suggestion will cost in the thousands and needs to be performed by a specialist. Nothing about this case is typical. His symptoms are not typical, his lack of response to medication is not typical, he’s been seen by 4 practices, at least 6 veterinarians and no one can give us any answers yet. The cost is becoming too much for the family to keep up with and Furever Yours commits to these pets for life. But they need your help to help them! Like all rescues they depend on donations to survive. The family was hesitant to ask for help at all but FYR knows there are kind people out there who will understand that this pup deserves the best and so WE are asking for your help to help our adopters. We are committed to his care and taking him to see yet another vet. We need to find answers to save his life because long standing pneumonia can be fatal. Tyrion is a fighter and we would be so very grateful if you will fight for him too. Please help us save him. He is the sweetest kindest little soul. It would mean everything to us if you helped us reach our goal.
The funds raised will be utilized to ease the financial burden on the young family and will be applied to his future vet trips, medications, x-rays, and diagnostic testing.
Office visits are $50 each trip
Antibiotics continue to cost around $50-60 each prescription (and he’s been on 2-3 at a time)
Sedated x-rays cost just over $300
This diagnostic procedure he needs will require a specialist consultation and we have been given a minimum estimate of $1500- $2500.
This pup means everything to the FYR family and his human parents. He is irreplaceable and deserves to live a long, happy, healthy life. We have all tried so hard to pull him through. We aren't giving up! Please help us save him.
