Hello! My name is Hannah Joy Berlin. I am a Yoga teacher at Purna Yoga 828 in Asheville, NC. I have been teaching yoga since April 2017—and I love it! During the last year and a half of teaching yoga, one thing has become clear: there is so much more for me to learn. Through this campaign, I am asking you to give towards my goal to raise $7000 to become a 500-hour certified Yoga Professional at Purna Yoga College.
Yoga is a rediscovery of who we truly are within, and that is why I am so passionate about teaching.
We are rarely taught how to deal with our emotions, how to redirect false beliefs or how to communicate with our intuition. Purna Yoga has given me the tools to reconnect with the most beautiful parts of myself—the parts that I thought were gone, but were just hidden beneath years of conditioning. I learned to love myself.
In order to transform our communities, I believe we have to start with ourselves first. It’s called a ripple effect, and I think we can make some big waves! Yoga has empowered me, increased gratitude and empathy, and given me a deep sense of connection with myself and the world around me—and I believe that I can bring that to my community through teaching.
Now more than ever, our communities need teachers who teach compassion, who teach tolerance, who guide students to their own personal wisdom. I want to be a teacher like this.
By providing more classes and private yoga sessions, I can use my education and personal experience to help others find freedom from discomfort in their bodies, whether it's physical, mental, or emotional. This discomfort could be in the form of injury or just a learned behavior based on society’s idea of how someone should look, act or think.
My first 200-hour training was just the tip of the iceberg. At the 200-hour level, I learned how to keep people’s bodies safe in the postures. At the 500-hour level, I will learn how to guide people on their own path of healing.

My journey begins in May 2019. Join me as I pursue the next chapter in my yoga career. Your donations contribute not only to my personal growth but will further the practice of self-love, self-respect, and empathy within our community—principles that are needed so badly in all of our lives. I seek to cultivate a space where my students can explore themselves through yoga, without judgment. A safe space where they can be and love themselves. Let’s have some fun. Let’s change the world. I humbly ask for your help. Help me, help humanity – or just some people. ; )
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
