Stem Cell Treatment for COPD
Donation protected
I am Pete Canfield, a son, the father of 2 grown children, grandfather of 6, brother, significant other, a US Army Veteran and an artist. I also has severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, with a loss of 75% of lung capacity. Over the years, beginning when I was just 11 years old, I smoked tobacco, as was the social norm. Many people smoked. I became a tobacco addict, but finally managed to break the addiction and quit smoking just 3 years ago. Unfortunately, the damage had already been done.
Stem Cell Therapy is available, but I am a patient of the Veterans Administration Health Care System, and VA has declined the request to pay for it, claiming that the procedure is “Experimental” and “Research”. Stem Cell Therapy has the potential to add several years to my life. This Therapy, for lung issues, has shown as much as a 40% improvement in lung function for some patients. At this time, even a 20% improvement would have a substantial impact on his ability to care for himself and to pursue other endeavors.
Stem Cell Therapy is available through the Lung Institute in Phoenix AZ. The money raised here will be used for that therapy, and for transportation and other incidental costs that are bound to be incurred. The sooner the money can be raised, the sooner the procedure can take place. The sooner the procedure takes place, the less damage there will be to correct. This procedure will add not only years to my life, but will also add life to my remaining years. For any and all who choose to donate, great will be my gratitude. There is really no way to thank some one for giving me a gift of life, but that thanks will be deeply imbedded in my heart.
