Annika Lewis is a fifteen year old who is passionate about women’s issues. She has been selected as one of twenty young women in the United States to represent the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church at the United Nations Conference on the Status of Women at the U.N. in March. The focus of this year’s meeting will be on the issues facing rural women. http://www.unwomen.org/en/csw/csw62-2018 Because Annika lives in a small town in SW Colorado she is well suited to this opportunity. It is worth noting that she is one of only three women selected who are under the age of eighteen.
Thanks to all of you Annika is in New York. (back row, center right)
The opportunity to be present in U.N. meetings and to actually advocate with heads of state from around the world on behalf of women will be a life altering experience for Annika. She will return with her world expanded, with a deeper knowledge about the issues facing women, and with an appreciation for how change can be accomplished at the international level. This is knowledge that life in Cortez alone could never give her.
"Thank you" will never be sufficient to express the gratitude we have for your help in making this trip a reality. Look for more as the weeks go on.
