Unapologetic YOUTH Scholarship Program

Unapologetic, a creative company, launches it’s very first youth based initiative. The Unapologetic Youth Scholarship is a program dedicated to supporting, valuing, and uplifting the ideas & visions of young rappers.

“Rap is the most consumed music on the planet… It’s more popular than Pop. Instead of pushing our kids into more traditional forms of music, how about we support them where they are and where they want to go?” says IMAKEMADBEATS , founder of Unapologetic. “I spent a lot of 2018 talking to people about why I left here shortly after high school. I left because I didn’t think this place, the brand it openly adopted and the things it supported were set up for my ideas to thrive here. When you’re that young, you’re just looking for your tribe, you know? You just want to see that people in your community value your approach to art, even if it’s daring or different. So I eventually landed in NYC, but many others who felt the same landed in LA, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, etc. When I came back, I knew I had to be a part of the solution. There’s no way someone should have to leave the most mentioned city in music recording history to thrive being a musician. I had to find a way to help a 17-18 year old me.”

This vision-centered scholarship is available for young rappers between the ages of 14 and 17 years old who reside in the Memphis metropolitan area and have a 2.8 or higher GPA. The winner will receive:

1 song produced, recorded, mixed & mastered by The Unapologetic Sound  production team
1 professional one minute music video directed by Unapologetic videographer About 35 Miles 
1 event at The CLTV CMPLX 
1 custom t-shirt designed by the artist and produced by the Unapologetic Garments  team
1 mini documentary on the life of a teenage rapper in Memphis directed by Nubia Yasin  and Lawrence Matthews 


The song will be released and distributed for the young rapper to receive 100% of the royalties from streams and sales. The CLTV and Indie Memphis  will be involved in the event and film portions of this program.

The majority of this program is funded by Unapologetic itself for a noble reason. “I wanted people in this community to know that this was funded by someone directly from this community and these circumstances. It’s timing, priority, and urgency were determined by people who actually experienced what it is to be a young artist in Memphis. We didn’t use any time explaining it, waiting on responses, or hoping someone understands. We knew what we wanted to do. We understood how to do most of it & prioritized learning what we didn’t. We had the means so we focused on action,” says IMAKEMADBEATS. The only portion of the funding not directly tied to Unapologetic is for the production of the Youth Scholarship t-shirts & merchandise. The creative company is asking for people in and around the community to invest in the manufacturing of them via a GoFundMe campaign as a way to further awareness and support our homegrown youth programs.

Because all of the money used to purchase of the Custom Artist Tees will go straight to the YOUTH artist, all $75 and up donations will put $25 of the donation directly into the pocket of the YOUTH Artist.

YOUTH Tee, Tote Bag and Back Pack sales go directly to the Unapologetic YOUTH Program to maintain, build and administer the program/scholarship.
