Cargo Muchacho Mine Preserve
The Underground Conservancy and Bat Conservation International have teamed together for the first time to protect what is one of the largest and most important roosts for the California leaf-nosed bat. The missions of both of these organizations include protecting bats and their habitats. The shared goal of the organizations in this instance is to see the permanent, long lasting protection of the Cargo Muchacho Mine with its long history and the incredibly important colony of bats that call it home. Protection and conservation is not limted to just its inhabitants, but also the rich historic site itself.
Upon interest by many of the Explorers of the Mojave Desert Group, Cave and Mine Exploration Groups, and Bat Lovers alike, we are happily proceeding to crowd source the funds needed to finalize and purchase controlling interest of the Cargo Muchahco Mine. UC Directors have put up seed money to get the ball rolling and now what was thought to be a lost opportunity seems to be a very attainable goal.
The Underground Conservancy is truely a fledgling group registered as a Non Profit in the State of Arizona (EIN #81-27777031). Federal Non Profit Status is currently filed waiting for final registration.
Please follow the Face book page and or check the Website to learn more and see what is happening up to the minute.

Oh yeah , PRIZES !!
We have also created a fun incentive for all those who donate. Starting with two grand prizes ! One for the single largest donor, and a second randomly selected from all donors. The Grand Prize will be a private guided cave trip for your group through Cathedral Caverns along with T Shirts and other surprises, even for the saviest explorer. Cathedral Cave is a great beginner to intermediate skill level experience. We are also securing many donations that will appeal to the outdoor adventure lifestyle. We will begin posting details on our Facebook page of the prizes. These prizes will all be awarded at random drawing chosen from all donors as thank you. There will be some restrictions on prizes in regards to shipping vs. picking up the item. Some restrictions apply on the cave trip as well. but you will like it !
.. Just a note, that is only about $10.00 a bat to save the whole Maternity Colony….
We sincerely thank you for your time and interest of both this Historic Site and those furry little flying friends who call the Cargo Mines home.
