Unist'ot'en Camp Spring Fund Drive!
Donation protected
Since 2010 the Unist’ot’en clan has been patrolling its traditional territory to prevent the construction of oil and gas pipelines that threaten to destroy two salmon bearing rivers. Extreme weather events last fall and winter created conditions that are likely to flood the camp this spring and we need your help to protect our critical infrastructure.
Over the past seven years allies have helped us to establish a permanent camp with bunkhouses, a dining hall and cabins to house everyone who comes here to protect our rivers. An unusual amount of rain last fall damaged roads that we use to patrol the land and created two small canyons that are likely to flood the camp during snow melt this spring.
We desperately need some heavy equipment to repair the drainage system so that we can continue to protecting our rivers. We have three or four weeks until the spring flood to come up with $15,000 to buy a used back hoe. Please help us to protect the land by sharing this request far and wide and by donating if you can.
Thank you so much for all of your support. Every donation, every share and every positive thought makes a difference.
In Solidarity,
Freda Huson and Smogelgem
About the hosts of this GoFundMe campaign: Gordon O'Connor and Annie Banks are camp volunteers who are bottom-lining this GoFundMe. Gordon lives on Lkwungen territories in Victoria, BC and Annie lives on Ohlone territories in Oakland, CA. We have both been long-term supporters of the camp and we have been working with Freda and Smogelgem to raise funds for the camp for years now. We implemented this GoFundMe with their complete involvement. Gordon is responsible for the withdrawal of funds and then be transferring the funds directly to camp via check for the total amount raised. If you feel more comfortable donating directly to the camp through their website, you can do so at unistoten.camp. Thank you!
