UnitedPeople 2016 Election Campaign
George Orwell once said: “Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind”.
This is certainly true for the present government. They had promised us a new beginning in a new era of accountability, transparency and governance reforms. That is why we voted them in, but this is what we got instead:
Health Crisis
*Medical Cards taken from OAP’s, terminally-ill patients, sick children and disabled people
*Patients in A&E being left on trolleys for days on end
*Home health respite, care respite and care grants have been cut
Housing Crisis
*89872 households on waiting lists for social housing
*1495 children are homeless
*Rent increase of 35% since 2011
*Thousands of people now in negative equity
Community Crisis
*Emigration of over 200000 young people
*Crime rising as garda numbers fall and garda stations are closed
Job Crisis
*People are offered 50 € jobs for 40 hours/week
*No help for the self-employed who recently become redundant
Social Welfare Crisis
*Disability cuts
*Lone parent cuts
*Child benefit cuts
*Cuts of rates for young person between the age of 18 and 25
*Cuts in fuel, clothing, footwear, phone and grievance allowances
Tax Increases
*Water charge
*Household tax
*Property Tax,
*Increased Motor Tax,
I*Increased USC
*New fuel tax
*VAT increase from 21% to 23%
And Billions of taxpayers’ money is poured into the crippled Bank Resolution Corporation (IBRC).
The cynical government ministers laughed at the idea that they were elected, because we have believed their word and taken them seriously. As Minister Pat Rabbitte said: promises are just something you make during election campaigns. Now we are witnessing two parties in a frantic attempt to win back lost votes due to broken promises and bad government decisions.
But there is a true alternative…. UnitedPeople
UnitedPeople is a new party, created from the people for the people. We are neither left, right nor in the middle. What we want is to create the Ireland for each and everyone, not just a few who allow theselves to financially rob the people and the country’s resources.
Our core values are: participatory democracy, transparency, accountability. Here are just a few examples of what we want to achieve:
· Fully restore fuel, clothing and footwear, carer’s allowance, phone allowance for the elderly, child care allowances and disability allowances.
· Housing for all citizens according to their needs
· To abolish “Irish Water”, the metering, the water charges and return water to public ownership, enshrined in the constitution, as well as all natural resources like gas and oil, fishing rights and forestry.
· Free education for all with more state investment.
· Total reform of the health care and abolishing the two-tier system
We have so much more to offer, which you can check out on our website: www.unitedpeople.ie. Our manifesto bullet points can be found here .
We will treat the citizen’s vote with respect and dignity, and we will hold our promises.
In order for voters to have a real choice in the next election, we now need your financial help: The money raised will go towards election costs such as supplies, postage, printing flyers, leaflets, banners and posters, radio and tv production, volunteer expenses, and so on. Please help us to create the Ireland that we all can be proud of.
Divided people are destined to fail.
UnitedPeople can make the future better for all.
Thank you so much,
UnitedPeople.
