Update rural grocery store
Donation protected
I am currently living in a small community in rural MN. The city of Comfrey was going to close its only grocdery store. I was approced by many people in the commnity to see if I was interested in purchasing the store. So, after a few weeks of research I decided it would be wondderful adventure. I grew up in rural MN, and felt it was time to return and give back to the community. But like many things, time will take its toll on equpment. A little history of Comfrey, in March of 1998 the town was destroid by a tornado in which the city had to over come. And it pulled together and became a wonderul community. When they rebult the grocery store the owner had to cut some costs and put in used equipment. Which has worked very well, but again over time, the equpment starts to break down. The community of Comfrey consists mainly of retired families and small families and they really benefit from having a local grocery store as the next one is 15 to 20 miles away. I would like to keep this store going, as I have become apart of the community as well. I would like to start to do some of the changes in the new and upcoming year. I have had the privilage of working with the University of MN and seeing how the decline of rural grocery stores have affected the smaller commnities, and would hate to see this happen again. Any donation would be greatly apprecited, and if this goes well, I would love to head up a campaign to work with other rural grocery stores to keep them open and running.
