Restore Urban Upbound: Queensbridge
Tax deductible
Last weekend, a brand new mural on Urban Upbound's Queensbridge campus was vandalized, restored, and then defaced again.
Our Queensbridge-based nonprofit organization has been serving the community and working to break cycles of poverty in public housing neighborhoods since 2004. Urban Upbound Co-Founder & CEO, Bishop Mitchell G. Taylor, allowed the mural to go up on the Urban Upbound Queensbridge campus as a tribute to local rap legend Prodigy of Mobb Deep. Our efforts to restore the mural, initially defaced on Saturday, were shortly ruined by a second act of vandalism.

Unfortunately, this location has now turned into a crime scene, with paint splattered all over an awning and the nearby sidewalk. Along with these disrespectful crimes and the loss of a beautiful mural honoring Prodigy, our organization's Queensbridge campus, which serves thousands of community members per year, has been damaged.
We're looking to our community members and supporters to help turn this negative into a positive.
Our goal is to raise $20,000, which will:
1. Commission artists to paint a community-inspired mural
2. Replace the damaged Urban Upbound awning
3. Repair the damaged sidewalk
These restorations will benefit not only Urban Upbound, but the entire Queensbridge community.
We thank you for your consideration and support.
