US-41 Recreation Underpass Project
Donation protected
Hello!
We've received word from the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) that we are conditionally funded for $2.4M to build this project.
Residents and visitors of Marquette County will benefit from having a safe connection under US-41 in Marquette Township in order to link-up with our community's 100 + miles of motorized and non-motorized trails. This helps our local economy!
Funds generated by this campaign will be used as matching funds for two (2) state grant applications that have been filed with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the Michigan Department of Transportation.
If successful, a tunnel under the US-41 corridor will be constructed just east of the Marquette Menards store in 2019. Connecting trails be will installed from the Iron Ore Heritage Trail to the tunnel; and from the tunnel other existing trail netowrks, in phases. The underpass will also provide safer access to our growing shopping and entertainment district.
This is a legacy project for the Marquette area. Marquette Township Planning & Zoning staff are working dilligently with our local and state regulatory agencies to bring this project to fruition. However, we need your help! If you are a user of our trail netowork(s), or if you are a business that would like to provide access to your business for all mobility types, please consider a charitable contribution towards this great project!
We need to generate these funds by October 1, 2018.
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me.
Respectfully,
