Medical expenses for Nick

In the early morning of May 11, my little brother Nick got off work, and asked some people for a ride. They seemed friendly at first, but then they mugged him, and shot him in the leg. He is a chef at a small local restaurant in San Marcos, Texas. He doesn't have health insurance, and is unable to work until his wounds completely heal. He spent 2 and a half days in the hospital, and his medical bills are continuing to rise. He has no current income as he is unable to work, and his living expenses are going unpaid. While we are incredibly thankful his injuries were not more severe, we are deeply upset, and enraged that this happened to him.

We have sought out medical assistance programs, but are running into red tape left and right. He was injured and resides in Hays county, but has been treated in both Travis and Williamson county. The programs will only help if you are treated in the county you live in.
