This Precious Child-Nguyet Tran

Hello
My name is Patricia Maxey. I am a retired grandmother who is trying to help this child get a new face BEFORE she is of the age to start school.
I am trying to ra
ise money for a child named Nguyet(pronounced Mor-it) Tran.
This precious child was born with an Infantile Hemangioma the size of a strawberry. The doctors in Vietnam would not operate because the parents could not pay for the surgery in advance and they have no medical insurance. They are extremely poor. The family tried six different doctors with the same results. By the time the child was 6 months old, the rapid growing hemangioma had grown to cover the entire left side of her face. It prevented hair growth on the left side of her scalp and also she has no teeth on that side of her face. Her left eye was completely obscured.
I became involved when the child was one year old when a friend of mine showed me her picture. I called a friend, a doctor, and asked for his help. He referred me to a wonderful organization out of San Francisco and they agreed to help. They sent the mother and baby to Madrid, Spain to one of the largest children’s hospitals in the world. They paid her hotel, airfares, meals, and hospital expenses for the trip.
The mother of the baby, Lam thi Le , spoke no English or Spanish, only Vietnamese. She had never flown before or stayed in a hotel and had no way of communicating. She is young and was terrified about the “adventure” of a 24 hour flight, but asked that I meet her there. I agreed to meet her in Madrid to help with communication and other things with the baby. I paid all of my own expenses. She was admitted to hospital General Universitario Gregorio Maranon in Madrid, Spain for testing. The trip was supposed to last only 10 days.
After 6 weeks in Madrid and many tests and drugs to shrink the tumors, we were sent home. For the past two years now my husband and I have been providing all of the medication for the baby. She was required to be on this medication for nearly two years to try and shrink the tumors so that plastic surgery could be performed.
The doctor contacted me and said that it is now time to do the surgeries. She will require at least two surgeries now and possibly more in the future. The organization in San Francisco now says that they cannot fund the surgery at this time . The doctors are ready and there is no money to help. The child will be 5 years old in September, 2016. She wears a mask when she is in public so that people will not stare.
Delaying surgery now could result in a suboptimal result with the tumor regressing but the skin remains distorted and discolored similar to a deep burn. She will require extensive plastic surgery to the head, face, eye and scalp. She will also require dental implants when she is about 10 years old.
Without this surgery, she will live a very sheltered life kept away from the public, socially ridiculed, and socially abandoned. This often leads to severe psychological impairment. The neglect can be so severe that it can lead to social rejection and even death. Without the surgery this could lead to permanent residual disfigurement. The public disgrace for the family can often lead to the inability for the family to work in order to support the family.
We have been working on this now for over three years. We desperately need help with funding for this child’s surgery. We have set up a fund where you can contribute any amount you can afford. These funds are secure and will be transferred to a special bank account at PNC bank in the name of Patricia Maxey/Nguyet Tran, the baby. The doctor is donating her time and expertise for these surgeries but the
hospital must charge. You may donate on this site by cell phone, computer, or credit card.
The funds are needed immediately so that the surgery can be performed in February or March, 2016.
To see this child's life transformed will be a dream come true for me and for she and her family. I will be so thankful if we can make this happen. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Thank you also for any donation you can make to help change this child's life and her future. God bless. Please don't put this off until another day, she needs your help NOW.
