My mom, Karen Henderson, has always been the sunshine to brighten up the life of everyone around her. Her nickname forever has been Sunshine. She needs our help now more than ever and I ask that you consider what you could do to help bring some sunshine to my mom's life.
My mom has Multiple Sclerosis. It has caused her to basically become paralyzed from the shoulders down with sometimes just a little use of her left hand. There are quite a few other symptoms she deals with on a daily basis as well.
She requires 24 hour a day care from nurses and caregivers in order to continue living in her own home in Simi Valley, CA. 9 hours a day are paid for through IHSS. We are so thankful that for the rest of the hours, we have been blessed with financial donations from family and friends which have kept us being able to keep her living in her own home all these years.
However, as her condition has progressed, so have her needs. The amount of funding that we currently have in place for her is not enough to cover the cost of caregivers which keeps her living where she is. We are in desperate need of additional funds in order to continue paying her caregivers. If we run out of money to pay caregivers completly, then my mom's only option is to go to a nursing home instead of private care in her home. She is only 58 years old and the thought of that breaks my heart. We would love to be able to help her continue living her same lifestyle and be close to family and friends. Living in a nursing home would be detrimental to her emotional health and wouldn't provide her the one-on-one caregiver situation that she has now.
If you would be willing to donate any amount, large or small, every penny will help pay for providing her care and keep her in her home longer.
