A microbus for traveling beyond the trash dump!

Hi guys! I’m Kara and I live next to a trash dump in Nicaragua with 14 amazing missionaries and friends. We all choose to live there to reach the lost and broken families and children who call the trash dump home. We feed the children, preach the gospel, heal the sick and bring hope, light and love into one of the darkest places in the nation of Nicaragua. 
However, we have a bit of a problem. We have outgrown our wheels! It’s actually a good problem because our team has been constistently growing and we now have the opportunity to reach more people and areas in Nicaragua. Our team in Nicaragua has grown to 14 people and we used to cram the 9 of us into a 4-Runner each day but that’s no longer an option. We really need a microbus! Our team is running a ministry school on the coast of Nicaragua and we can’t even get us all there each month. We are invited to minister in other areas of Nicaragua and we would love to travel as a team bringing the gospel and encouraging the local church and the body of Christ but we just can’t do it without a van to get us all there. Our team is trained, ready to go and can’t wait to see heaven come to earth throughout the nation...we just have a small problem getting where we want to go. The microbus would also allow us to take our kids that we have rescued out of the trash dumps to places like the beach, youth group and various other places we dream of consistently taking them.

Beauty For Ashes Project seeks to meet people right where they are at regardless of their religion, their past or their beliefs and works to help release them from spiritual, emotional and physical poverty through relentless love, innovative opportunities and igniting people's purposes and passions. We work with at risk families and children who live in or around trash dump communities in Managua, Nicaragua.

Our goal is to buy a gently used Toyota Hiace microbus that seats 15 people. These buses are great for the sometimes rough roads of Nicaragua and they are reliable and easy to find parts for. We have our eye on a few great used ones at the moment and we would love to be able to buy one this summer and begin traveling and ministering throughout the nation. Sewing into this vehicle would help equip us to minister the gospel and care for the families and the children from the dump in a way we have only dreamed of doing!
