Help start-up BlackRoseBooks, St.L
Hi! Please, allow us to introduce the Black Rose Book Distro, a non-profit project to bring some of our favorite radical literature to the St. Louis area.
In 2016 we opened our first distro site inside Foam Coffee and Beer in south Saint Louis, selling books at near-wholesale prices on topics as diverse as GLBTQIA issues, feminism, indigenous struggle and decolonization, race & racism, struggles against gentrification, migrant/immigrant & refugee issues, and much more.
Our intent is not to make money off this project, but to sustainably spread these books around the greater-St.L metro area: to us that means keeping our costs down by keeping things simple, and keeping the price super-affordable for readers. The payoff we're hoping for is the books we make available sparking many, many conversations in and around St.L, and hopefully inspiring some creative direct actions too against oppression, exploitation, and the banality of everyday living under present conditions.
To that end we're reaching out to you, and asking for your help with our start-up costs. Funds will be used to:
1) Print promotional materials, including fliers, bookmarks, and signage, and,
2) Expand our starting inventory and establish new nonprofit relationships with publishers and distributors.
And that's it, folks. We've already assembled an impressive inventory of titles, which you can preview on our Twitter and Facebook pages. We just want to add a few more titles before the grand opening of our second St.L location in south Saint Louis, inside Mokabes Coffeehouse on October 31st 2016.
