Marc's Disabled Van Campaign
Donation protected
We are uniting to raise funds to help my friend Marc, his wife Jenna, and their twin 4-year-olds buy a new wheelchair-accessible van.
Marc, 46, is like a big brother to me. I have known him for nearly 20 years, and he has never asked for any kind of help before. I am starting this fundraiser to help him and his family, which includes Jenna and twins Jake and Addison, buy a new van.
Marc became a quadriplegic in 1988 after a tragic accident. He was determined and ambitious, and even such a devastating injury could not keep him from getting his B.A. from Clark University and then a graduate degree from the University of Miami. He now works full-time for the Diabetes Research Institute through that University. Jenna is now a full-time stay-home mom to their adorable, active children and takes care of Marc's needs as well.
As you may imagine, being a quadriplegic comes with a whole host of medical issues, some that you might guess and many you probably wouldn't without firsthand knowledge. Marc has been in and out of the hospital since his accident, and the medical bills they are now facing are staggering.
Marc is no longer able to drive, following a further decrease in mobility, but the family still needs a vehicle to transport him to work, the kids to school and camp, and for their obvious day-to-day activities. The cost of a van that is equipped with a ramp and mechanics for Marc's chair is completely beyond the scope of their present finances.
If you can help this strong, close-knit family achieve this goal in order to get a new accessible van, please give what you can. I know their gratitude - and mine - will be deeply heartfelt. If you're not able to help, please share this fundraiser however you can. Thank you so much.
