Jon's Medical Fund

This last year (plus) has been an especially tough one for my brother and the Clark family!
On February 10, 2016 my brother, Jon Clark suddenly and completely lost the ability to move both his legs or even wiggle his toes. He is only 30 years old! Many of you already know that Jon has been experiencing severely disabling medical problems for a couple years now. After many ups-and-downs, he was diagnosed with Eukaryotic Protozoan Parasite in August. He started a vegan diet, lost 40 pounds, started new medication and was hoping to get on a road to recovery. Becoming wheelchair bound was an unexpected turn of events and takes things to a whole new level!
Without a diagnosis it is impossible to know how long it will be before he can walk again and he must rely on the use of a wheelchair for the duration. Obviously, this leaves us desperate for answers; we’ve applied to the Mayo Clinic and are sending charts to specialists and neurologists around the country (and locally).
He will be discharged from the inpatient rehabilitation facility on March 7th. At that point, he will still require 24/7 care. Due to his cognitive impairment he cannot even safely manage his own medications and blood clot prevention injections. My parent’s house is a tri-level home with absolutely no handicapped accessible toilets, showers, sinks, kitchen, or bedrooms. A lot of challenges!
Jon has exhausted all his savings paying for his medical bills to date, but the major expenses haven’t even started yet. We have to get my parent’s house handicap accessible; ramps, stair lifts, bathroom access, etc. There will be medications and therapy, trips to the Mayo Clinic (hopefully) and specialists. This is all new to us, so I anticipate there will be much more that we haven’t even thought to consider yet.
Jon is such a positive guy who has handled this situation with amazing grace! He has made a positive impact in many people’s lives. He’s a great Uncle, friend, and cousin to many – so let’s help him out!
We are hoping to raise $15,000 to help cover all these expenses. We would all be endlessly grateful for any gift you can find it in your heart to give, no matter how large or small. Even if you’re not able to donate right now I’d like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read Jon’s story, and ask that you share this page with all your friends in hope that we are able to raise the funds needed to get my brother the care he needs during this difficult time.
