Ventura Student Fundraiser
A young man was badly beaten at a downtown Winnipeg bus shelter by someone recently released from prison. That same person has now been apprehended by the Police.
This student is only weeks into their stay in Winnipeg, pursuing an education. He was downtown trying to set up his social insurance number at Service Canada. Like all students, money is tight and he needs all the help he can get.
This young man is here alone, with no family and very few friends - just some new acquaintences. We have to help him feel welcome and ensure he does not feel alone!
His injuries are bad, and he will likely flinch at every bus stop he stands at for quite some time. Let's help him feel safe and secure, and let him know Winnipeg stands behind him.
We want as many people like this young man to come here and be a part of this great City. People should know this is a caring place, filled with wonderful people who look after eachother. We are stronger together.
Ventura & the Indian Students Association at the University of Manitoba have teamed up to raise money for this new student.
This money will be used to help a struggling student reduce his financial burdens for food, school and getting around Winnipeg. He has enough to deal with from the terrible injuries he has sustained.
We will also donate a small portion of these funds to the wonderful people at the Indian Students Association at the U of MB. This fantastic association will ensure money is set aside to help new students settle into Winnipeg.
We will make sure we make Winnipeg feel like the warmest, safest and most amazing place on earth so he tells all his friends about what Winnipeg is really about - friendship, family and a close-knit, caring community.
