Terra Madre trip * Turin Italy

I'm Vera Videnovich: farmer at Videnovich Farms, horticultural consultant at Envision Unlimited Chicago, and a member of Slow Food Chicago. I have been chosen to be a sponsored delegate to attend the Terra Madre Salone del Gusto which will be held September 20-24, 2018, in Turin, Italy.
Terra Madre Salone del Gusto is a biennial Slow Food event, which brings together international producers, communities, chefs, and visitors in the celebration of good, clean and fair food. I will be representing Slow Food USA, Slow Food Chicago, and Videnovich Farms - my family’s farm in Southwest Michigan. As a lifelong farmer this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to share my experiences and to learn from other delegates that represent good food from hundreds of other nations.
As a sponsored delegate my room and board will be taken care of by volunteers in Italy - but to take advantage of this opportunity I must provide and book my own airfare from Chicago to Turin by June 15, 2018.
My lifelong work with Videnovich Farms has been to continue the heritage farming handed down to me by my Serbian immigrant father. Immediately following the Terra Madre event I will be booking a short visit to nearby Serbia to visit my relatives - some of whom continue to farm with the traditional methods. Visiting Serbia during the growing season would be a valuable resource as I plan to visit the pepper growing region of Leskovac.
My father, Bozin Videnovich, showing off a special hybrid pepper he raised on our Michigan farm.
Hungarian variety peppers grown on my family's farm in Michigan - they're a great stuffing pepper and are excellent to preserve for winter via pickling or freezing.
A sample of the fruit and vegetables grown by Vera of Videnovich Farms.
