Veterans Stand - Standing Rock Fund
Donation protected
December 4-7, 2016 2,000+ veteran volunteers traveled to Standing Rock Sioux Reservation to hold the line with our brothers and sisters in the spirit of peace and unity. We launched a mission of support and started a movement of unity that we were neither expecting nor surprised by. The Veterans Stand community was built from this first mission and we have the potential to do so much more in service of the people of this country.

In the past two weeks the turmoil and uncertainty at #StandingRock has increased significantly. We have continued to stay in contact with indigenous and camp leadership and have identified several areas where the Veterans Stand network can continue to serve the needs of the local community. We are launching this second GoFundMe to create a Standing Rock Fund to address the ongoing needs at Standing Rock and our partners in camp. The funds from this campaign will be allocated, as needed, to the following areas:

Supplies for Camp Sustainability: Sub-zero temperatures coupled with a lack of basic heating and food supplies the Water Protectors direly need have created an extreme situation at the camp. We have been working with groups of volunteers to fill the gap but consistent supplies are required to sustain their efforts. Fund will be allocated to meet the ongoing needs at the camp including, but not limited to: Firewood, Propane, Food, Gear and Medical supplies/tools. By leveraging our network and coordinating with groups onsite we can provide a flow of necessary goods to the people who need it the most.

Stranded Volunteers/Ride-share: There are many volunteers who made their way to Standing Rock and have gotten stuck due to vehicle breakdowns and medical issues caused by the extreme conditions. We'd like to get these folks the help and support they need to go home and regain their independence. Funds raised will be allocated to developing a ride-share program, leveraging the Veterans Stand network, increasing the ability of specialist volunteers to travel to and from the camp to assist with building a better, more secure infrastructure within the community.

Veterans Stand: Mobilization & Operations: Max 20% of the fund will be used for Veterans Stand mobilization readiness. Putting a call out for onsite volunteers to mobilize quickly requires foundational coordination in administration, communications, transport, logistics and supplies. We stand in unity with our brothers and sisters in Standing Rock (and beyond) and our community is ready to mobilize.
