Victor's Wish
Thank you all for your support!!!!!!!! i will use any funds that continue to come in to help save for college!!!!!!!
The Lake Highland's Advocate has published more on my story...
(Before reading this, i want to inform that the funds collected will be a surpise for my parents)
When I was 5, i lived on a room, about 600 square feet, no restroom, no kitchen. I felt lucky I had to stay in that place most of the day because my both parents had to work. When I attended kindergarten, I was hungry most of lunch the times. My mom decided to come here, to the U.S., and she took me to live in Grandma's house for a while. After three years she called and asked if i wanted to go live with her in the U.S. I said yes, because i really wanted to see her. I tried crossing the border with my uncle for the first time, but the guide who we were with left us so we tried crossing the Rio Bravo back but almost drowned since i didn’t know how to swim. After a few hours of walking, the patrol had caught us. Second time we tried crossing by car, before we passed the checkpoint station, the woman told us to get out of the car and walk for a couple miles so we could meet on the other side of the station, we never saw her again. I was lost out in the desert with my uncle for three nights and two days, then ICE caught us while crossing the road. We were again returned to Mexico. But the third time, I was able to make it, I think it was a day after my 9th birthday. My mom told me her story of when she got here... she had to live with my dad in a white Ford truck. My mom worked in a hotel, and my dad at a carwash. They don’t have a Social Security Number, so that meant; No Drivers Licence, No Tax returns, No College for me, and No good paying Jobs. When I arrived my parents had moved into an apartment. By that time i didn’t know what was an iPhone, a train, or technology other than a TV. I learned English thanks to my Skyview elementary ESL teachers. When my Skyview teacher handed me a math textbook, i started to solve the problems in the book. Most of my elementary years I was known for a well behaved kid and a teacher pet. By the age of 12, i had a 5 year old sister and new born twins. We were more stable economically, my mom was known as a hard worker and my step dad as an excellent painter to a point where they were both able to get paid around 14/hr. The white truck was gone by that time due to a collision with a guy who passed a red light. The drivers side was the only part that wasn’t destroyed, were my stepdad was. At age 13, something bad had happened, my 5 year old sister Katherine was missing, after a few hours of search, she was found dead, in August 31, 2014. We had to go through therapy because the person that had done it was a family member. This was hard for my family. We also hired a lawyer to handle the case. My parents hired a different lawyer, and we learned we were able to apply for a U Visa, for victims of certain crimes who have suffered mental or physical abuse. We payed $2,000 dollars, but the case didn’t move for about 2 Years. We stopped hearing from the lawyer. Then we hired a new lawyer who resolved the case in three weeks and didn’t charge us nothing. We were approved! But now, we must have more money to pay for the costs of getting our papers. This will be about $7000. I'm asking for your help. I want to surprise my parents and give back to them because they gave so much to me. This money will help me and my siblings because we can also be able to get financial aid for college if we are citizens. Every contribution counts. Thank you!
