Vietnam Rescue Shelter and Farm

Donation protected
Three years ago, when we started this rescue shelter, we were the only organization housing rescued dogs and cats off the streets and from cruelty and neglect in central Vietnam.  We saw a tremendous need and ran with it.  Today, Vietnam Animal Aid and Rescue consists of a vet training clinic, rescue shelter, and education programs, and this fall, we will be the proudly open the first farm santuary in Vietnam.

Now, as we renew our lease for the third year here at our rescue shelter in Hoi An, we have a lot of work to do to continue to keep the rescues safe from dog and cat thieves and to make the conditions for our 50 rescues healthy and secure as we go into our next chapter of education projects with children, local animal rights organizations, and veterinarians.  When we first built the enclosures, we had very little money, even less exposure to and understanding of fundraising, and we put up what we could for the moment knowing the day would come when we would need to upgrade.  That time is now and we are going full speed ahead to improve our facility for the long term security of the property.

Our biggest move was the barn.  In August that went up and we started the fence immediately to protect it from thieves and vandals as it was on an open property next to the shelter.  Now we have the fence up, but it is not a cheap project and our funds are running dry as we try to pay for these vital projects while still keeping up the costs of care for the animals and maintenance of the clinic and shelter.

The deadline to acquire these funds is September 20th as we have a big childrens' education program coming then and all the work needs to be complete and paid for by then as we open our shelter to the first group to come to our new and improved facilites. These kids will be the very first children in Vietnam to visit a farm sanctuary and learn all about why all animals of all species deserve our respect and protection!  This is no small feat here and we are super excited to be at the forefront of this non-speciesist animal right movement.

I have added our full costs for the month of September as we lead up to October's first of the month expenses.  As you can see, no one here makes a Western salary.  The money goes to the animals and their safety and security in a very hostile environment to animals.  Cat and dog theft is extremely common here and we feel that keeping the place safe is more important that adding to our retirement funds.

We greatly appreciate your help in getting us all caught up and ready to go forward with all our work in the future of Vietnam's animal rights movement!  This will take an army and a lot of time to make real changes and we are already here making a difference for three years.  Thanks for keeping up with our progress and helping us with our projects!
