Volunteer Violin Teaching-Tanzania!

Donation protected
I am very excited, and a little nervous, about my first trip to Tanzania! Ever since I was little, I have wanted to go to Africa, to experience the beauty of the land and animals, and to meet and connect with people. I am thrilled to have an opportunity to go with an amazing group of people and a wonderful organization!

Daraja Music Initiative, also known as Clarinets for Conservation, is a non-profit group that provides free music lessons to students in Moshi, Tanzania. The group also teaches about conservation, particularly of the African blackwood tree, called Mpingo, which grows only in Tanzania and is very valuable for making clarinets.

I will be traveling to Africa in July and staying for three weeks, during which time I will be teaching violin and music theory to the students in the program. I will also participate in planting mpingo seedlings at surrounding area schools and teaching the children about protecting this important resource for their future.

The money I am hoping to raise will cover the cost of my room and board during my stay, and also my volunteer visa. My family has generously paid for my plane ticket to Africa, one of the biggest expenses.

I am so grateful to have this opportunity to give my energy and talents for the children of Moshi, Tanzania to have the experience of learning violin! Please help me out so I can make a difference in Africa! Thank you!
