VUHS Class of 2017 Walk-A-Thon

The Vergennes Union High School senior tradition to "walk for a cause" usually takes place in the fall, but this senior class-- on their own terms-- scheduled it for the spring. Since 2008 VUHS seniors have walked as a class, breaking fundraising records every year. This annual senior walk-a-thon will be all day May 17th. Starting now (April 5th), the seniors will begin their promotion and fundraising for this event: they will have a month and a half to raise money to support their cause. Early morning May 17th the seniors will walk (10 miles)-- with some of them running (17 miles)-- to Camp TaKumTa on Grand Isle. They will start in Colchester on bike paths and back roads. Their challenge is to raise enough money to leave a Class of 2017 Scholarship Fund for each of their district elementary schools. Seniors every year do a service day for Camp TaKumTa and a "Back To Our Roots" service day for their elementary schools. On May 17th they have combined all three of these service days into one walk.
