Rachael in Uganda for T.E.T
Donation protected
At the beginning of March 2016, I am spending three weeks volunteering in a vocational school/college near Jinja, Uganda. I am doing this because I want to support the Tofta Educational Trust, which enables disadvantaged teenagers to have an education and learn practical skills. There is NO free secondary school education in Uganda and many children are AIDS orphans / care for siblings / live in the slums / live in poverty or have backgrounds that mean they have little hope of meaningful education. They face an uncertain, challenging and disadvantaged future.
The Tofta Educational Trust has transformed the lives of many. The Trust has a strong belief that educating the youth is the best way to overcome the burden and cycle of poverty and hardship.
During my time at the school, I will be teaching basic food hygiene and doing whatever I can to assist the students and school. I'm determined to put all my efforts into everything I do at the school and in making my visit beneficial for every student I interact with.
The Tofta Educational Trust is a registered charity in the UK (no. 1070803) and registered with the NGO Board in Uganda (no. S591413242).
I am hoping to take out with me a couple of items for the the school to keep. These are a basic weather station and a used (or new) lap top. I have set my funding target high as I hope to either buy some more items for the school when in Uganda or use the money to support the education costs of a student/students.
Please get in touch with me if you would like to know more. If you would like to donate towards the costs of items for the school, then that would be wonderful - no matter how 'small' your donation (I don't believe there is such as thing as a small donation! - every donation, of any amount, is so valuable).
Thanks ever so much / Webale nnyo,
Rachael
