HELP SAM FIGHT CANCER
ABOUT SAMUEL SILVA
Samuel is a kind and loving boy. He is very joyful and has an amazing sense of humor. He was born in Fort Myers, Florida on November 6th, 2007, and is an only child to two wonderful parents, Alex Silva and Maria Cristina Oliveira Lulsdorf.
WHAT’S HAPPENING NOW
While we were getting ready for another Thanksgiving celebration, like many other families in America, a routine follow-up visit to the doctor to check on my cousin’s persistent cough brought our family devastating news. My cousin, dear 11-year-old Samuel, was diagnosed with cancer on November 16th, 2018 when a tumor of 6x12cm (2.36x4.72in) was found between his heart and lungs. Our families world turned upside down. Samuel was sent to Golisano Children’s Hospital where the first aspiration biopsy was performed between his ribs, but the result was inconclusive as the sample size was to small to make a determination about the specific details of his particular cancer. Details are needed in order for the doctors to decide on the specific kind of chemotherapy, so an additional, more invasive biopsy was performed.
In the midst of this emotional storm and the hope that we would wake up and all of this would have been a nightmare, we received the news that Samuel has five more cancer spots in his body. One nodule in his neck, two in the spine, one in the femur, and one in the hip.
We are devastated! Samuel is hospitalized and he was submitted to second biopsy on November 30th. We already know that Samuel will have a long and very challenging road ahead of him. I would like to count on all of you with your prayers and also with financial help, so my cousin can be with his mother and she will not have to worry about the bills that will not stop coming.
Maria Cristina and her husband Alex work cleaning houses, and when they do not work, money stops coming in. They do not have any insurance or work benefits that would help with paid leave or anything similar. Because of that, I am counting with your help so this family can have a little bit of tranquility in this moment of anguish and fight for the life of their son Samuel. Any help will be a blessing to their lives.
ALONE WE ARE WEAK, BUT TOGETHER WE ARE INVINCIBLE! GOD BLESS US ALL!
