Robert's Cancer Story

This is a GoFundMe account page set up for a good friend named Robert Louque who is 37 years old from St. James Parish Louisiana. St. James Parish is really a small and rural area. Robert grew up at young age learning the importance of hard work and dedication. Robert being the independent type worked hard and saved up his money to pay his way through college to become a lawyer and try to establish a name for himself. Robert lived a normal heathy life until recently when he got some disturbing news. This is Robert’s story.
Robert received some pretty devastating news 2 weeks ago. Robert went to a general surgeon who also deals with vascular issues to remove a lump from his right bicep. It had been there for the last 16 years and was previously told it was benign with no chance of mutation.
Long story short, what was only supposed to be a simple Doctors visit that ended up turning into something more. The Doctor ordered an ultrasound which recommended an MRI that recommended even further evaluation. On Monday Robert had a biopsy taken for further testing. Friday the results came back and Robert learned he had been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma which is normally a pediatric cancer. Most rhabdomyosarcomas develop in children with more than half of them being under the age of 10, but they can also occur in adults which as previously stated is very rare
Cancer does not discriminate and one thing is for sure it does not care who you are. Robert’s cancer has been labeled as progressed stage 4 and has spread to his lungs and bones. After meeting with his Doctor, Robert has chosen to go through with the most aggressive treatment available. Robert started Chemotherapy on June, 02 2015 and will have to undergo 54 weeks.
Robert stated he always felt like he has been healthy and this comes as a total shock.” I have never been one to be scared but I am this time and its’ not fear of the cancer or the treatments. My fear is the unknown and the financial struggle that I will be facing on this journey. Cancer will not defeat me, I have come to learn that this disease can be conquered and that is exactly what I plan to do because my life story is not ready to end, and in fact it’s just beginning.”
Robert will need all the love, prayers, and support his family and friends can give him as he prepares to take on this challenge and his life. Donations will be greatly appreciated because as the treatment will go on so will the bills for medication, treatment, and whatever else is prescribed to him by Medical Professionals.
