Em's Heart Surgery Expenses
Donation protected
Some background information:
Emalee, Mysti's daughter, suffers from chronic heart issues/defects and pulmonary hypertension. She is dependant on a pacemaker, as she has no underlying heart rhythm. She needs her mechanical mitral valve replacement soon, as she has outgrown the one placed at 16 mos.
Mysti and her family are trying to secure funds to travel outside of their state in order to go to Boston Children's Hospital to have a 2nd opinion from a world's leading pediatric valve surgeon. They are also hoping to get a 3rd opinion at Philadelphia Children's Hospital.
Mysti and her family are trying to find the safest surgical plan and best ardiothoracic surgeon for her; Mysti has been told there is a 25-30% survivability rate for a 2nd valve replacement, especially on someone with no underlying heart beat and such high pulmonary pressures.
They live 2.5 hours from Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh; because of Em's extensive heart/lung issues, they must use the doctors there for everything—even simple dental cleanings. With regular appointments and now having to keep an eye on Em's leaking valve they travel there monthly—often several times per month.
In the midst of Emalee's issues, Mason has been undergoing multiple oral surgeries needing to be done by the craniofacial orthodontics and surgeons also at CHPittsburgh.
Why we want to help:
Like most of us, Mysti doesn’t like to ask for help or to let people know when she is struggling.
Mysti Holsinger-Stitt has been a big supporter of indie and small press authors. She is an avid reader and a faithful reviewer. She generously gives of her time to promote the work of so many of us.
This isn't just for authors, though. Mysti's kindness and generosity spills over into the realm of readers and friends. She steps up to the plate when someone has a need.
Some ways we're helping:
In addition to a few fundraising projects currently happening on Facebook, several amazing authors have banded together to build a book made of original zombie short stories. All profits of the sales of the book will be forwarded to Mysti to use to help offset some of her medical and travel expenses.
We realize some may want to provide additional support for Mysti and her family. That is why this GoFundMe account has been set up.
