Walking Home For Mental Health
Donación protegida
The monies raised will be split 50/50 between Reach Across, a mental health charity from Arbroath and my Hummingbird - Music for Mental Health Project.
To help raise funds and awareness for the above I will completing an exciting challenge that I have simply called "Walking Home For Mental Health" on Friday 13th September where I will be walking from my new home in Shotts to the town I grew up in called Arbroath! This will take an estimated time of around 30 hours plus and around 88 miles of walking!
My project will consist of -
*Creating collection of songs to be recorded and shared to raise awareness of mental health and the connection Music has with our minds. This will be released in conjuction with the book.
*A book sharing my experience with music and mental health. Focusing on songs and how they have affected my life entitled "Bookmarks - Music and My Mental Health" . This is to explore the connection between how music supports us in the good times but can also affect us and be detrimental in tough periods of our lives.
*4 Events/Sessions in Arbroath, Dundee, Glasgow & Edinburgh for all ages to focus on discussing how music impacts our mind and how writing our thoughts down to create music can create a postive impact on our minds. This will be alongside signposting, mental health presentation and a professional advisor on hand to support the session.
I would hope to complete the full project by late 2020. Having your support would mean the world to me. I have worked so hard in the last few years to try and create something that could inspire not just young people but all people to talk about there mental health and get support they need. I feel that now is a great chance to complete my goal. I really feel strongly that if we can educate people at a young age on their mental health and how to manage this they can use this for the rest of their lives!
50% of money raised would help towards delivering this project. After book sales I will make a further donation to Reach Across and also to help fund future events if the intial ones are success and there is a demand there. Any funds not used would be donated to Reach Across to continue they great work they do in helping people in my hometown of Arbroath.
To reiterate 50% of the money raised will go towards the Hummingbird project and 50% to Reach Across.
