Waterville Twp K-9 Project

Donation protected
My name is Cheri “Tass” Summers and I turned 60 this year! I wanted to do something special to celebrate. I met with Waterville Township Police Chief Bingham and learned that the department was going to be adding a K-9 officer to the force in 2016. I quickly realized this was the perfect way to celebrate! This project combines my love for service projects and my love for animals.

My goal is to raise $10,000.  The monies will be used for training expenses for both the K-9 officer and his partner. If we should be so blessed to exceed our fund raising goal, the money will be used for on-going expenses of the program.

All monies go directly into a special account.  You can also rest easy when donating in that the gofundme site is a secured website so your information is protected.

Why does Waterville Township need a K-9 officer? The drug epidemic is everywhere, even small towns and rural areas. There has been a significant increase in drug- related crimes in Waterville Township.

Why A K-9 officer?  Their keen sense of smell allows them to detect things humans cannot. They can even detect substances sealed in plastic containers (i.e. drugs, explosives, humans, etc.) and detect danger.

A K-9 officer has the ability to not only detect the drugs but to detect drugs on money. They have the ability to track people on foot for apprehension or rescue and their partner always has immediate back-up. They have greater speed than humans and can assist with apprehensions. A K-9 officer is significantly cheaper than their human counterpart while providing uniquely different skill sets.  The K-9 officer will be used for drug searches, search and rescue, tracking,  (lost children, adults, etc) as well as assisting other local police department emergencies as needed. When looking at the bigger picture, the more communities that have K-9 officers, the more united front we have to fight drug related crimes and send a message to the drug community as a whole… Not this school, not this town, not in NW OH, NOT HERE

We are living in difficult times.  Join with me in making a difference TODAY!
